Past Design Challenges
During my time in school, I was selected for various interviews and given ‘design challenges’. These were take home design projects where employers gave me specific instructions on a certain project that would be similar to the work of that specific role. Though these were not the jobs I ended up getting, they gave me valuable insight on what to expect in the interview process and helped me focus to make a product that I am still proud of regardless of the job outcome. The past moments that did not go my way inspired me for the ones that did.
Volkswagen Internal Event Graphic Designer Design Challenge: I was tasked to make an event informational map for Volkswagen employees. The event was a Zootopia theme egg hunt at the Chattanooga Zoo. The giraffe was a required given asset. The front takes a Zootoptia-like font, cityscape in the background, and iconic police had that officer Hops wears throughout the movie.
Volkswagen Internal Event Graphic Designer Design Challenge: This is the backside showing the map and different attractions. The backside was illustrated by me with the Zootopia train making a subtle appearance for movement and to maintain the Zootopia theme.
Kennesaw State University Student Graphic Designer Design Challenge: I was tasked with creating a post card print advertisement for KSU's annual Giving Day. For this event students and alumni are encouraged to give back to their university and matched by certain faculty up to a dollar amount.
Kennesaw State University Student Graphic Designer Design Challenge: The back features emphasis on Giving Day only being 24 hours with the Giving Day pattern I was given as an asset to use. The fonts are the fonts on KSU's brandstyle guide.
Georgia Tech GRA Design Challenge: I was tasked with creating a flyer for a GT event hosted by the Office of Experiential and Engaged Learning. I chose to focus on sustainability using the GT's colors, fonts, and iconic hive shape.
Volkswagen Design Challenge con’t
The design challenge asked for a Zootopia themed informational map and still graphic for TVs in at the plant. I created the map and graphic but figured if it was on a TV, it would likely draw some more attention and just be more fun if it moved. Below is an extra motion graphic asset I made on top of the two required ones.
